costa-rica

If you have decided to visit Costa Rica, you have to know that nature can offer you here an unbelievable sensation and image through its amazing volcanoes. These volcanoes, in number of over 110, represent another attraction of the country, over 10 of them still being active. In the province of Cartago, not far from the San Jose capital, you will find the Irazu volcano, the highest in the country, which erupted last time in early 1960. The Poas volcano, located in the province of Alajuela, has one of the biggest active craters in the world.

To continue with, the Arenal volcano, in the northwest of the country, annually attracts thousands of visitors who come for the unique show of the incandescent rocks thrown in the air or of the flow of lava, which often pours over the crater edges. The Arenal area is also famous for the thermal springs with curative properties, the best known being undoubtedly those from Tabacon.

Add to these tropical beaches with fine sand from the Guanacaste province, the kitchen based on tropical fruits and seafood, the coffee considered the tastiest in the world. You can consider as well the golden pineapple, the sweetest pineapple in the world, the well-known beauty of women, the hospitality of this country’s natives and you will understand why Costa Rica is known as “The Blessed Country”. In addition, you will know why the usual greeting between the natives of this country is “Pura Vida” (real life).

Points of Interest

San Jose, a city that may seem at first sight chaotic and crowded, is for the tourism in Costa Rica more a point of leaving for circuits or for tours for a day, an offer which is extremely varied that attracts you with each touristic point or hotel.

Nevertheless, the city preserves a warm and welcoming air, and the most important touristic objectives are the National Theater, the Cathedral, the Gold Museum, the Jade Museum, and the National Museum. San Jose is also a city with a riotous nightlife, and if you want to have fun, San Jose is a destination where you will always find something attractive. You can visit the gardens with cascades La Paz, the Poas and Doka volcano, extremely exotic places that you can meet as soon as you reach the Costa Rica paradise.

Here you will also find the Tamarindo Sanctuary, almost 400 hectares of Mangrove forests and tropical forests with a rich and diverse fauna, among which we can mention dozens of species of birds and three species of monkeys, specific to this region. This is a “wild” destination and unique at the same time, due to the mix between tropical forest, with fine sand beaches and bays with crystalline water.

You can enjoy the beaches with fine sand and water suitable for swimming, surfing or diving, active volcanoes, tropical forests, real natural mazes. Eco-tourism is a specialty of the house in Costa Rica. You can easily move within the country by cheap flights, bus, or car to rent in safe, because the locals are welcoming and friendly.

Holiday Countdown

family holiday

The word “holiday” is very precious for both children and their parents. Holiday does not mean only sun and fun. If we are not able to organize our holiday, we can face long empty days where we wish we were somewhere else and feel like crying with boredom. During a holiday, time passes slowly if you have nothing to do. On the contrary, if you have the patience to plan for your holiday, you can be sure it will be brilliant.

First, get ready to fight boredom, take a piece of paper and a pencil, and write a list of wonderful and exciting things you could do during your holiday, at home or away. Think Big! You can decide to become a champion swimmer and to choose as a holiday destination a place where you can enjoy water and sun. Furthermore, maybe you want to climb the highest mountain during your holiday and then you may choose a holiday destination where the keywords may be “snow,” “ski” or “winter sports fun.” As an alternative, maybe you want to write a hit record, so you can spend your holiday studying music. Think of your holiday and write down all your wishes, big and small. They may not all happen but they will get you in the right mood for your holiday. A holiday is more fun if you have a goal.

If you are going away on your holiday, make a list of everything you are going to need. First, you need clothes. If your holiday destination is colder, do not forget to have essential warm clothes with you. If you are going on holiday with children, take their favourite games with you especially if you travel by car and you have to spend a lot of time in traffic jams. By the way, do not forget your sense of humour in traffic jams, and get ready with plenty of funny jokes.

Write your holiday list with a friend. It is more fun and two heads are better than one! When your list is ready, stick it inside your bag so you do not lose it. If you cannot live without music, choose your favourite songs and make sure your iPod has batteries.

Do not make the same mistakes twice! Play back your last holiday in your mind, like a film. What is wrong with the film? Is it the sound? (There is not enough laughter? You talked too much or you did not talk enough! On the other hand, is it the plot? There was no excitement, no suspense? It is hard to make things better unless you know what is wrong!

A word of warning: if you stay in the sun too long, you burn. That is a fact. In the summer, a hat and a good sun cream could be your best allies. Danger zones are your nose, shoulders and neck. Avoid going in the sun between midday and three o’clock when the sunrays are strongest!

Pregnant Women on the Move

pregnant travel

How can you ease bulging out and heartburn when you travel and you are pregnant? When you are on the road and you are pregnant, it is hard to keep a healthy diet and fixed eating habits. The chances of eating more and in a hurry are high, using fast food or food that is not familiar to you, and change of your time zone will also change your meal times.

If you are pregnant and take an airline travel to another country, you will eat for lunch, when in fact at home you used to have dinner. Thus, trips can intensify bulging out and heartburn, which are already common in the case of a pregnant woman.

If you are pregnant and you have tummy problems, they are likely to appear during the trip as well, but you can follow some tips to make sure that they are not so severe. When you are pregnant and you have to travel, pack only casual and comfortable clothes (anything that might press your waist or stomach). Instead of eating three big meals, a pregnant woman should try to have more small meals, throughout the day.

Eat slowly and chew your food well. A pregnant woman on the move should not have dinner before bedtime. Between dinner and bedtime there should be 2-3 hours when the food can be digested. Try to sleep with the body raised on several pillows, preferably special pillows for pregnant women.

Limit your amount of fluid ingested during meals and drink after them. Avoid food and drinks that can bring you gastrointestinal problems, such as carbonated drinks, alcohol (which anyway must be avoided by pregnant women), caffeine, chocolate, citrus, tomatoes, mustard, vinegar, minty and hot products, fries and foods rich in fat. Do not smoke! (Again, a pregnant woman should quit this habit).

What should I do if I have problems with constipation? If you have such problems before going on a trip, it will worsen the situation. Changing the food, the impossibility of having a toilet when you need it, the reduced the amount of fluids, all these can have a negative impact on the stomach in the case of a pregnant woman.

To avoid this problem or at least to mitigate it, your food should include cereals, fresh or dried fruit and vegetables. In addition, you should drink more fluids; at least 6-8 glasses of water a day, especially prune juice will help, and do exercises, benefiting from a fitness centre or pool once you have reached the destination.

Ask your doctor about the amount of iron you had before being pregnant. High doses (greater than 30 mg) can cause constipation or even worse. As long as you do not suffer from anaemia, ask your doctor for advice to supplement the amount of iron, if it is still low. How can pregnant women prevent fatigue?

It is normal to be tired when you are pregnant, as long as your body sustains two people. Travel will worsen the state of fatigue by changing meal times, changing the time zone, or interrupting the normal program. Although during early pregnancy you can still benefit from the trip, in time, you have to slow down, and quit the idea of seeing everything.

women travel

It is very important that you protect yourself while you are on board a ship or boat. Once the boat is in position and you are sailing, you want to be sure you are secure and comfortable. Here are some pointers that will help you feel confident that you are safe.

  • Transits – Being in a remote part of the area, you cannot depend on the transit. The most important thing to do is to line up 2 trees along side and on the port side. This will stabilize the boat until you decide to take off.
  • Be aware of the danger circle – Using a navigation system, program your machine to inform you of any danger areas. Your navigation system will alert you of any changes or sudden danger zones.
  • Be careful of the Tides – when sailing, be aware of the tides that may rise. Have a escape plan to get out the water before it gets worst.
  • Always Plan Ahead – Prepare your trip and know your destination. Obtain as much information as possible about the destination that you travel to such as the weather, the culture, language spoken, any restrictions, the distance from your home town. This will give you information where you are and how you can get back.
  • Keep copies of all your identification and passport and leave with you’re a trusted source if needed at a later time.
  • Hotel Safety – Whether traveling alone or with family always keep your doors lock and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Communication – Always keep a phone in good working condition on you at all times. If you are in need of an emergency, you should be able to call someone.
  • Be Alert – Always be confident and not frail while traveling. Never seem unsure about your whereabouts. A crook will take advantage of your vulnerability.
  • Protect your valuables – If you cannot lock anything up while traveling, you should leave it at home for safety.
  • Limit your amount of cash – Never flash your cash in public, and keep your purse safely secured on you. Carry all your cash, and identification securely where it cannot be pulled or yanked off of you.
  • Shopping – If you decide to go in a store or restaurant, you should stay in a well lit area and it is good to stay amongst a crowd of people. Never let anyone see that you are alone.
  • Be careful who you ask to help you, never talk to anyone who is idol.

Traveling alone does not have to be a risky trip, if you take caution. Have fun and protect your safety with the above mentioned tips. Although you have more fun when traveling with your friends and family you can have fun alone to.

Traveling with Pets

Before leaving on a trip with your pet, you need to know all the flight conditions with a pet.

The pet can travel in the passenger cabin or in the cargo hold. Below you can read the conditions for each type of transport as far as a pet is concerned.

On Board of the Plane

There are airlines that agree to transport in the passengers cabin only dogs and cats. To be accepted in the passenger cabin, a pet must meet the following conditions:.

• The presence of the pet must be announced when the passenger books the ticket. The pet must be confirmed for the trip by the airline and then it will be accepted on board of the plane;

• Your pet must be clean

• Your pet must be healthy: the passenger must be in possession of an international passport for the pet;

• The pet must have identification chip, whether it is a journey into the Schengen area, and to be vaccinated in accordance with the requirements for access to the country of destination

• The pet must not be pregnant

• The pet must not cause discomfort to other passengers

• Pets must be carried in a special, standard cage, which may be purchased from stores specializing in selling products for pets

The standard cage for the transport of the pet in the passengers’ cabin has the dimensions 69 cm x 51 cm x 49 cm and it is recommended for 5.5 kilograms. There are accepted pets weighing up to 8 kg including the cage, if they fall within the dimensions above.

There are a number of restrictions for the acceptance of pets:

• Depending on the type of aircraft, they can accept up to 2 or 3 cages

• A passenger can carry only a single cage

If the passenger goes to the registration window without a prior booking or fails to comply with the conditions imposed by the carrier (the weight of the pet, the standard cage, the health and cleanliness conditions, etc.), the carrier may refuse to transport the pet.

The passenger must pay a fee for additional baggage according to the weight of the animal weighed together with the cage.

Important terms:

• Airbus A318 does not accept pets in the cargo hold

Flights for Britain do not accept to transport pets, in the passenger cabin or in the cargo hold

• Animals can be transported in the cargo.

To continue with, sometimes it can be stressful for your pet to travel long distances, therefore you should consider some little tricks, in order to help it to get used with the cage. Thus, you can start with the placement in the cage of a favourite toy, or a favourite bed or mattress etc. It is good for your friend to have at least 2-3 days to feel comfortable in the cage. Leave the cage open, so it is curious, to begin exploring so that it can feel comfortable inside and face the trip.
