Keeping Safe while Traveling Alone

It is very important that you protect yourself while you are on board a ship or boat. Once the boat is in position and you are sailing, you want to be sure you are secure and comfortable. Here are some pointers that will help you feel confident that you are safe.

• Transits – Being in a remote part of the area, you cannot depend on the transit. The most important thing to do is to line up 2 trees along side and on the port side. This will stabilize the boat until you decide to take off.
• Be aware of the danger circle – Using a navigation system, program your machine to inform you of any danger areas. Your navigation system will alert you of any changes or sudden danger zones.
• Be careful of the Tides – when sailing, be aware of the tides that may rise. Have a escape plan to get out the water before it gets worst.
• Always Plan Ahead – Prepare your trip and know your destination. Obtain as much information as possible about the destination that you travel to such as the weather, the culture, language spoken, any restrictions, the distance from your home town. This will give you information where you are and how you can get back.
• Keep copies of all your identification and passport and leave with you’re a trusted source if needed at a later time.
• Hotel Safety – Whether traveling alone or with family always keep your doors lock and be aware of your surroundings.
• Communication – Always keep a phone in good working condition on you at all times. If you are in need of an emergency, you should be able to call someone.
• Be Alert – Always be confident and not frail while traveling. Never seem unsure about your whereabouts. A crook will take advantage of your vulnerability.
• Protect your valuables – If you cannot lock anything up while traveling, you should leave it at home for safety.
• Limit your amount of cash – Never flash your cash in public, and keep your purse safely secured on you. Carry all your cash, and identification securely where it cannot be pulled or yanked off of you.
• Shopping – If you decide to go in a store or restaurant, you should stay in a well lit area and it is good to stay amongst a crowd of people. Never let anyone see that you are alone.
• Be careful who you ask to help you, never talk to anyone who is idol.

Traveling alone does not have to be a risky trip, if you take caution. Have fun and protect your safety with the above mentioned tips. Although you have more fun when traveling with your friends and family you can have fun alone to.
