A Trip to Remember

As far as papers are concerned during your trip, you have to know if the birth certificate of your child is enough, if you need a passport (your passport where the child is listed too). Find out, too, if a visa is necessary for the trip, if you must submit a copy of the birth certificate, of the marriage certificate completed with the birth certificate of the child, a permit to leave the country (for the child travelling alone, whose parents are divorced), a contract for medical insurance etc. Do not wait for the last minute to get trip information and make the necessary arrangements, because they can last long enough (to obtain passport, visa, etc.).

Vaccines

For a trip abroad, it is necessary for your baby to be up to date with his or her vaccines. In addition to mandatory vaccines, some destinations (Africa, South America, Central America, and Asia) require specific vaccines, particularly against yellow fever (after 1 year of age).
Vaccines can be made by doctors or at a special centre for vaccination. Do not hesitate to talk about this with your doctor where the child is under observation, usually, and you must do it immediately after you know what the next trip destination is.

The incubation period is sometimes long and some side effects (such as fever) could ruin your trip. It is better to take precaution measures before the trip! It is essential to have with you during the trip diapers, underwear, a bath towel, plastic bag (especially for dirty diapers), the child’s favourite toys, a book, a small feeding bottle of water (or a little glass without foot), a bib, some food, plates and cutlery (biscuits, powder milk, small pots, glass of water).

You also need his or her pacifier, if the baby has one (and possibly a pacifier for emergencies). In addition, a complete trip outfit is needed (body, socks, slip, / overcoat for babies or trousers) and paper handkerchiefs. There are required for the trip: clothes, preferably large and easy to wash (cotton if it is hot). You can get a small vest for the evening and for the plane or train. You need to have more trip diapers with you.

The pram for your child is very useful during the trip since it can become multifunctional. It allows us carry the baby without any fatigue for us, and the baby can enjoy a little siesta, leisurely in the pram. The pram can be also very practical during meals as you can feed the child sitting in it (without having to carry the special high seat of the baby, used for feeding him or her).

You also need an umbrella like bed, which is ideal when we are on the move, in a trip and there is no one at the trip destination. In addition, it can act as an enclosure during the day. Remember the sheet cover and the sleeping bag. The first-aid kit includes  an electronic thermometer, dressings, a tube of Arnica based cream,  scissors with rounded tips, antiseptic solution with drying properties, pills for fever or toothache (in the form of syrup or suppository).

For the rest of the medical problems, it is ideal to discuss with the doctor, who is best able to establish with you and depending on your trip destination, the content of this first-aid kit. Do not hesitate to ask for advice.
